THE INTERIOR DESIGN PROCESS
DESIGNED TO KEEP THINGS EASY.
Our process delivers flexibility and organization to renovation, interior design or decorating initiatives while providing a critical path to a project's success. Upon completion of the initial consultation and agreement signing, the process begins.
PHASE I - INTERIOR DESIGN
This is where things begin. We develop an interior plan for layout keeping in mind your needs, wishes, design style, adjoining spaces and most importantly function. We work out details for flow, partitions, transition areas, focal areas, etc. and come up with the best plan for your new build or renovation. We develop elevations as needed and create 3D renderings to give you an excellent sense of the final product. We discuss these items with you and once everything is approved we move to the next phase.
Step 1 | Site planning day - measurements, photos & final criterion meeting with team
Step 2 | Project brief and approval
Step 3 | Floor plan, furniture plan, elevations, renderings
Step 4 | Soft quote budgeting
Step 5 | Refinements, drawing package sign-off
PHASE IIA - INTERIOR FINISHES
Upon design approval, we move to the selection of construction materials and interior finishes. Every surface including walls, floors and ceilings are taken into consideration. With samples in hand, hardwood, stone, wall coverings and paint finishes are specified with notes on pattern, sheen and colour. Door profiles, trim and hardware are chosen and the overall scheme is presented for approval. We group elements by room or zone to give you a true sense of the space and review each material and why it is being presented and selected. Once these decisions are approved, elements are ready to be procured and the plan can be supplied to contractors and trades for accurate costing.
Step 6 | Site review and planning with trades
Step 7 | Construction finishes selections
Step 8 | Presentation, refinements and scheme sign-off
Step 9 | Final update of design package, budgeting and approval of Phase IIIA
PHASE IIIA - RENOVATION & MANAGEMENT
With a plan in hand and decisions made, the construction stage begins. We have a dedicated team of contractors and tradespeople that we've worked with for years - people we trust implicitly with our clients and their projects. Each step of the renovation is co-ordinated with the appropriate tradesperson carefully selected to complete the task to our utmost standards. We oversee all parts of the renovation, organizing schedules, ensuring materials are delivered, installations are completed according to the design and resolve any noted deficiencies. Should you have your own contractor, we're happy to work with them.
Step 13 | Budget approval, collection of payments, purchasing of construction finishes, scheduling
Step 14 | On-site kick off
Step 15 | Follow-ups, site visits, management
Step 16 | Deficiency walk-through
PHASE IIIB - FURNISHING & STYLING
Here is where everything begins to come together. Furnishings are ordered and managed. Once all pieces are ready, a closing date and deliveries are scheduled. Deliveries are then managed on site and items are unwrapped, cleaned and placed in position. Accessories are placed, furnishings styled and refuse is taken away. Artwork and mirrors are hung, light bulbs added and final styling tweaks made.
Now your home is fully ready to be enjoyed.
Step 17 | Budget approval, collection of payments and assessment of lead times
Step 18 | Procurement of FF&E, follow ups and scheduling
Step 19 | FF&E deliveries, installation & styling
PHASE IIB - FURNITURE & DECOR
Here we begin to add the pretty by selecting and specifying all of the required furnishings and decor pieces. Samples of fabrics, hardware, wallpaper and paint colours along with furniture options and feature pieces are presented and discussed. We review each element with you and why it was selected and group items by room or zone to provide a sense of the final space! Once all decisions are approved, costing and production timelines are submitted for your consideration.
Step 10 | Selections for FF&E - hard and soft furnishings and decorative elements
Step 11 | Presentation, refinements, budgeting and scheme sign-off
Step 12 | Approval of budget and Phase IIIB
